Here is my reply to the question, how have you become more "liberal" and why postmodernism... Though titles do suck...(some of the analogies are straight out of ANKOC) Here it is:
When I say that stuff on my blog ("I'm liberal," "I'm postmodern"), it's mostly for pure shock value. But, the things I have become more "Liberal" on are my social issues mainly. I feel that as Christians, we have a burden to change the world. Not through Politics or Evangelism but through our lives. I have just realized that our politicking won't change hearts. Besides, Christians freak out at being labeled liberal when it isn't always bad. This is a grossly over simplified statement, but, would you rather be a stagnant conservative or a liberal seeking God. Not that conservatives are all stagnant or liberals are all seeking, but isn't it about the motive, the actions, and the acceptance? We can't say just because you believe, you recieve eternal life. Hell, there would be alot of demons in heaven. And the postmodern thing... It's not as bad as Christians play it. it is no worse than being modern, or midieval. It is just that the world is becoming a postmodern society. If the church says "That's Evil" and doesn't let itself sort of mold to postmodernity (in the same way it did to modernity) then evangelical Christians will be the Amish of the future. You know? They didn't change with time, they got left in the dark ages. At camp we talked about being ahead of the world not following the world. I think the sooner churches realize that they need to incorporate elements of the postmodern in with the modern in with the traditional, we will be meeting the needs of the world. They need to have needs met as they hear us talk about this abundant life, otherwise, we have just lied to them about Jesus' message.
