This whole thing blows my mind. I'm sitting up watching the news and wondering how this happened without warning. Then I found this chilling warning for America. Apparently there is a volcano called Cumbre Vieja in the Canary Islands. This volcano has a chunk of rock hanging out over the ocean. Mind you, this rock weighs about 500 BILLION TONS. I'm not making that number up. 500 billion tons of rock crashing into the ocean. Apparently that causes a wave 75 feet high once it hits NYC. Here is the article on it. Creepy.
The thing is, we have warning systems, but we are also more heavily populated. What do you all think?

Estimates on that rock in the Canaries sare, despite the warning system, as high as 10 million.
