Hey all,
Picked up a new book this week, well, two new books. Tony Compolo's "Let Me Tell You A Story" and Rob Bell's "Velvet Elvis" Both are genius.
Let me tell you, this week has been rough, a lot of tension in staff, and whatnot, but it's all over soon and I will be sad. Also, I'm very excited about the future. Stace is going back to Sacramento State to finish her last semester of GE and I am moving back to Roseburg to intern at a church. It will be fun.
A few thoughts from Velvet Elvis:
1. Unless we study from and completely understand the Greek and Hebrew and Aramaic that the Bible was written in, we cannot read an objective Bible. Every translation has to be translated and paraphrased.
2. Our Doctrines need to be treated more as springs than as bricks. If something presses hard on a spring, it gives and sways and molds. A brick just crumbles.
I reccommend the book to anyone who is either questioning or is scared to questioned.
On a side note, saw this shirt at camp and loved it:
"It's against my relationship to have a religion"

Jeff, I know better than anyone, that you don't live in RSM anymore. *sigh*, unfortunately it's been far too long since we had a Chili's rendevous. I think I spelled that wrong. Update your stuff!
Hmm... nice shirt. Then again, isn't "not having a religion" someone's religion?
